Looking through the bookstore, I come across the graphic novel section like always and browse through a couple mangas to study certain techniques and styles. I know noone really would check entries like this, most of all mine (I'm so nice to myself!) but I figured if you wanted some inspiration, you should check these mangas, and their mangakas out.

Real Bout Highschool (Aka Samurai Girl)
^this manga has amazing shading. Theres at lease three different shades in one column, but sometimes the artist likes to use up to 5 shades! Very worth looking at if you're drawings tend to look flat like mine do and the story itself isn't very bad. Too bad I can't say the same for the anime

Death Note
^ Oh my god. AM I IN LOVE with Takeshi Obata or what. The anatomy....is well...AMAZING. This guy really knows how to give anime characters visual depth. My favorite part of the human body is the eyes and man...does he know how to draw eyes! Also, he does really well making the characters realistically proportional, which makes the story seem very much real. No wonder they made two live action movies for this series!

Lips- if drawn the right way, lip movement can say a mouthful (no pun intended?)
King of Hell does just that.

Hot guys? Just take a look at one of my classic favorite mangakas Yuu Watase. She draws their hair, their eyes, body, face, and everything really well. Mmmm Night and Tamahome *drool*

Ahem. Hot chicks? Well, if you like the busty and very much womanly kind of girls, I'd say check out Bleach if you haven't already. This mangaka sure does like to draw bewbs. Though I kind of find it odd that Rukia is the main character and her chest is more real than any of the women in the series hahahaha. Like the innocent type? Try Love Hina. They've got the innocent droopy eyes and doll like figures.

So now you've got your shading, your anatomically correct characters, lips, hot guys, and hot chicks. Have fun drawing!
